Workshop, storage and van equipment specialist Bott has completed a £800,000 expansion of its factory headquarters in North Cornwall.

Based in Bude, it has completed a new 700 sq m office block, including a new showroom and training suite for its UK and European dealer network. The development is the latest addition to its ‘A’ site and takes the total size of the factory to almost 10,000 sq m. In addition to the training and conference suite, the new block will also accommodate the company’s sales and marketing function, accounts department and key senior personnel. “This expansion is part of the continued growth of our factory on this site, and is a clear demonstration of our commitment to the area, and to UK manufacturing. As well as additional staff accommodation, it provides a fantastic showcase for our products and will enable us to train our staff, customers and dealers in the most modern environment,” said Bott's CEO, Clive Woodward. The office block was designed to fit in with the existing factory units on the site, while remaining sympathetic to the local environment in one of North Cornwall’s most popular tourist destinations. The building has also been designed to minimise energy use, with high levels of insulation, a combined heating and cooling system and as much natural lighting as possible through the central glass atrium. The construction was carried out by building company J E Stacey from nearby Holsworthy. Planning permission has also been granted for a 15 kW wind turbine in the grounds of the factory to offset the office block’s electricity consumption. The office extension follows other significant investments, including a new energy-efficient paint line allowing the company to react more quickly to bespoke customer orders and a £700,000 investment in a sheet metal folding centre.
