Tapping unit can handle up to 48 mm x 2 mm

The Somex Max 28TE unit complements tapping units Max 20TE and Max 48T and is based upon the proven M28F drilling head, which has an adjustable stroke up to 200 mm in length. The new Max 28TE tapping head can suport tapping applications of M24 x 3 mm or M48 x 2 mm in 600 N/mm2 steel. The standard thread pitch range is 0.5 to 3 mm, with other pitches available on request. The unit can be fitted with 3 hp AC motors up to 5.5 kW (50Hz), with geared motor options also available to provide the lower spindle speeds required for larger thread diameter tapping operations. Motors can be front or rear mounted, with 4 x 90° positioning for versatility.
