Okuma ServoNavi from NCMT boosts accuracy and cycle times

Okuma has introduced its ServoNavi application, available in the UK from NCMT. The application is able to increase surface quality, reduce production time and compensate for the effects of wear in older machines, Okuma says.

ServoNavi works by automatically adjusting the machine’s settings to the conditions of each individual job – in real time. For instance, by default, table feed acceleration parameters are set to suit the maximum table load, which can slow down acceleration. However, ServoNavi’s ‘Work Weight Auto Setting’ automatically adjusts to the actual weight of the workpiece and the fixture.

ServoNavi offers further features that: compensate for slide load variations that diverge from the ideal servo control settings; eliminate noise and vibration while machining; and estimate chuck and workpiece inertia from the acceleration torque.

ServoNavi is standard on most Okuma machines equipped with the OSP-P300 control.
