HellermannTyton launches manual tensioner

HellermannTyton, a leading specialist in cable management solutions, has launched a new manual cable tie tensioning tool.

The EVO7i is designed specifically for industrial applications requiring consistently reliable results, such as in automotive, rail, manufacturing, and life sciences. It builds on the success of the EVO7, with new features including a lock-out lever to prevent accidental changes to the tension setting and a two-shot comfort grip to reduce fatigue through prolonged use.

The EVO7i has a sleeker profile to more easily pass through wires without catching, and an extended nose to easily tension and cut cable ties in confined spaces. The blade and nosepiece are easy to replace and backwards compatible with the EVO7, allowing for a more sustainable upgrade of your existing range.

Graeme Morley, product manager at HellermannTyton said: “The EVO7i really comes into its own in applications where precision is paramount. A wiring harness on a vehicle can cost up to £3,000, so making even one mistake when tensioning can prove very costly. The EVO7i helps remove that risk by providing repeatable, calibrated precision, time after time.”

Other improvements include a more ergonomic handle and trigger, with the trigger available in two hand sizes – short and standard; a hook for attaching a wrist strap or hanging the EVO7i on a wall; upgraded components for increased reliability; and a robust composite housing designed to withstand tough industrial environments.

Morley added: “The ‘i’ in EVO7i stands for ‘industrial’. This is truly a tensioner that is built to be reliable and robust, in harsh and demanding factory conditions whilst remaining the lightest tool of its type in the market.”

The EVO7i retains key features from the EVO7 such as the tension knob, which provides 33 settings to fine tune tensioning. Factory calibrated settings ensure consistent wire bundle tension from tool to tool, for dependable accuracy.

It also keeps HellermannTyton’s patented Tension Lock-Cut function, which eliminates tool kick-back, reducing stress and strain on the operator’s hand. Like the EVO7 it comes with a 12-month warranty as standard.
