The company (UK agent Laser Lines) reported that it took orders in 2016 for 130 machines, 28 more than in 2015, with consolidated revenue climbing 22% - 86.3 % of its revenue linked to sales of its selective laser melting (SLM) machines.
Completion of the new Group headquarters is expected by the beginning of 2018, with the company planning to move into the building during the first quarter of 2018. In addition to increased machine production capacity, the new location will provide space for around 500 employees – SLM currently employs 350 at its Lübeck, Schleswig-Holstein, northern Germany. The building will occupy around 17,000 m² of the total land area of 70,000 m², allowing expansion at the new Lübeck-Genin site.
Uwe Bögershausen, CFO of SLM Solutions Group AG, says: “We made sure when planning our new headquarters that the ground plans exactly meet the needs of our production processes. Our aim was to keep connecting routes as short as possible, and already further improve the possibilities for coordination between departments through the new premises' design. We believe we can significantly further optimise our manufacturing process in this way and raise our productivity. We will also have more space for our research and development activities at the new site than is currently possible. With our new group headquarters, we will be very well positioned for further growth.”
