Seco Tools (UK) and Edgecam show off new products in spring roadshows

A second generation of Seco’s Duratomic insert technology, comprising three new grades for steel and stainless steel applications, is officially released at the beginning of April.

To help promote it, and the new Waveform roughing strategy for high-speed machining from technical partner Edgecam, Seco Tools (UK) and Edgecam and are holding three road shows in Alcester (28 April), Milton Keynes (12 May) and Glasgow (19 May), and are free of charge.

Although Duratomic and Waveform are standalone products and can be used independently, they can also complement each other too.

Seco's new insert technology aims to provide customers improved edge wear detection, increased edge performance and reliability and improved wear resistance and insert life compared to the company's original Duratomic inserts first introduced in 2007.

Waveform (2015R1) is Edgecam's latest roughing strategy solution for high-speed machining that maintains a constant tool cutting load by ensuring that a tool's engagement in the work-piece remains consistent. The tool path created using Waveform is smooth and avoids sharp changes in direction which, in turn, eliminates 'fresh air' cuts, ensures that optimum speeds, feeds and depths of cut can be employed, and that a tool's life is prolonged.

Says Seco's sales & marketing manager, Mike Fleming:

"These events are unique and are amongst the first time that manufacturers will be able to see both products up close and being put through their paces."

The road shows will combine in-depth presentations with machining demonstrations, and will highlight the individual strengths of each product and the synergies that can be achieved when working together.
