EDM maker opts for Matsuura for hard metal and graphite

Pontypridd-based precision toolmaker FSG Tool & Die has installed a Matsuura V.Plus-800 5-axis single table vertical machining centre with an advanced vortex extraction system for hard material and graphite machining.

“With the new machine we can quickly switch between machining steel and graphite parts, enabling the company to maximise productivity not only of the Matsuura machine itself, but throughout the production process,” says FSG managing director, Gareth Jenkins. “Furthermore, the 5-axis capability means we can produce complex electrodes in one setting.” FSG plans to incorporate the Matsuura machine into its palletised automation and inspection system and to locate it into its EDM cell.
