Apprentice open evening at MTC

1 min read

By hosting an open evening, the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) in Coventry is inviting the engineers of the future to come and look at the record number of apprenticeship opportunities available at its Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre (AMTC). The event will be held on 25 February between 17:00 and 19:00, and pupils, parents, career advisers, teachers and college staff are all welcome.

The AMTC, on the MTC campus, plans to recruit more than 100 apprentices to start in September 2020, with a further 100 at its Oxford Advanced Skills training centre near Abingdon. It is hoped that the open evening will provide potential trainees with an insight into the centre’s apprenticeship programme and its plans to develop the next generation of engineers.

The AMTC is a flagship facility for the apprenticeship programme. Apprentices learn to use the latest technologies in areas such as intelligent automation, metrology and machine tools. The apprentices are also able to test and develop their skills with partner employers.

Matt Bastock of the AMTC says: "The MTC is able to connect young, talented apprentices with high-calibre manufacturing and engineering employers, which can provide a gateway to a fantastic career. Our purpose is to seed the manufacturing sector with a pipeline of capable engineering technicians. The open evening will give potential apprentices the chance to learn everything they need to know about our programmes, as well as take a tour around our facilities and see demonstrations of technology in action."
