ITC, now distributor for Widia cutting tools, is offering the Widia range of GTD taps including the best selling GX high precision solid carbide taps which can run at speeds up to four times faster than conventional high speed steel taps.
Widia GX taps are suitable for through and blind holes in steel, cast iron and non-ferrous materials. Developed for use on CNC machine tools with synchronous or rigid tapping control and precision toolholders, the taps are available as through coolant tools for improved swarf evacuation and performance.
Tool life is prolonged by optimal chamfer design working in harmony with a flute shape that has been created to optimise chip evacuation. Additionally, the accuracy of the threaded hole is improved due to a ground H6 shank with a run-out of less than 10 microns.
GX taps are available in sizes from M3 to M20 as well as in imperial dimensions. The 11 different designs, as well as the combination of micrograin carbide and range of PVD coatings – such as TiAlN, TiN, DLC and TiCN – enable them to be used to machine steel, cast iron, aluminium, copper alloys and hardened steel up to 68 HRc. Their high heat resistance and durability enables GX taps to run at high speeds.
GX taps can be factory reconditioned to the original patented specification. Special taps available upon request.
