Mitsubishi unveils MC6015 insert grade for steel turning

Mitsubishi Materials has introduced its MC6015 series of CVD coated inserts for steel turning in the ISO application range from P05 to P20. Featuring Mitsubishi's patented nano-texture coating technology, the grade is said to deliver exceptional wear and edge chipping resistance, even when machining at high performance parameters.

The nano-texture coating operation compacts the crystals into a tight, uniform structure that is claimed to prevent edge failure and prolong tool life. This ultra-thick Al2O3 layer makes MC6015 suitable for the continuous machining of steel, especially when conducting high speed, high feed machining that generates extreme surface temperatures. This patented layer is coated with a smooth and hard wearing surface that prevents abnormal damage and weld chipping.

Below the nano-texture layer, Mitsubishi has introduced its Tough-Grip technology, which is also patent-protected. Tough-Grip provides extreme bonding to prevent delamination of the various layers, thus extending tool life.
