Horn 713 12-tooth milling cutters are smoother groovers

Horn Type 713 12-tooth milling cutters offer low tooth-loading groove milling and face milling options to users of turret-borne rotary tooling. Horn says the reduced vibration offered by this technology supports better finish and higher productivity than has hitherto been available on internal groove milling operations within bores from 22 mm diameter.

Type 713 is currently based on inserts with swept diameter of 21.7 mm. The five groove milling inserts available are all capable of producing grooves up to 4.5 mm deep. Groove widths of 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 mm can be specified. The insert is secured to a M313 milling shank by a central screw using the Horn developed interface to make a highly rigid assembly. A face milling variant of Type 713 is also available. This version is produced with a fine face milling geometry for depths of cut up to 3.5 mm for a high quality finishing. Like the grooving insert it is developed for use with the M313 milling shank which can supply coolant directly to the cutting zone. Both inserts are initially available in carbide grade T125, and in right- and left-handed cut versions.
