Edgecam 2012 R1 enhancements in live demonstration

Edgecam's latest version includes a waveform roughing strategy, flow surface cycle, updated slot cycle support, tailstock movement control and simulator enhancements. These will be featured along with machining demonstrations at Edgecam's 'Innovation for Productivity' event on 23 November, 2011 at Yamazaki Mazak UK's UK Technology Centre at Badgeworth Drive, Worcester.

The new Flow Surface cycle in Edgecam 2012 R1 follows the flow of the surfaces, offering improved surface finish, helical support to reduce link moves, and multiple face support for machining fillets and 3D surfaces. The more precise machining and faster metal removal offered by Waveform Roughing are derived from the stability provided by a constant tool load path and a smooth toolpath pattern. Other benefits are improved tool life, constant chip load and an improved surface finish that can potentially eliminate secondary cutting cycles. An updated Slot Cycle supports the recently introduced slot feature. Feature Finder has been enhanced to recognise areas that can be machined with the slot cycle. Along with an option to select 2D, 3D and Solids as a cycle input, and new options to specify clearance, level and depth associative to the solid model, it allows for slots to be machined in a single pass. Edgecam 2012 R1 also allows machines to be configured with tailstock devices. This means users can control tailstock movements with graphical feedback and specify parametric or custom tailstock graphics in the Code Wizard. There is also full simulation of tailstock movements along with collision detection.
