Dormer Tools adds chrome-plated taps to its portfolio

A range of low torque-generating, short thread-length, hard chrome (Cr) plated taps has been added to the Dormer Tools portfolio. They are designed to support continuous production in structural grade steels, carbon steels, copper and brass.

The chrome plating not only significantly increases surface hardness (up to 68HRc) but also prevents swarf from sticking to the tool, says Dormer Tools. This is combined with optimum flute space geometry to ensure negligible chip congestion. The chrome-plated taps are manufactured from premium grade high speed cobalt for optimum edge strength and wear resistance and they are available in metric or metric fine thread forms with spiral point or spiral flute geometries.
