Y-axis turning centre with full driven tooling capability on show at MACH 2010

Weighing 6,500 kg, the 45 hp machine has a 3,300 rpm main spindle, with a maximum turned diameter of 320 mm and cutting length of 550 mm. The machine is 3,910 mm (L) by 2,060 mm (W) by 2,100 mm (H), with travels of 270 mm in the X-axis, ±50 mm in the Y-axis and 600 mm in the Z-axis. The TC320 LTY is available with either a 250 mm or 300 mm chuck, a 91 mm spindle bore and can accommodate up to 78 mm bar diameter. The machine is equipped with a VDI power turret that accomodates up to 12 tools, any of which can be milling or drilling tools, driven at up to 4,500 rpm. Automatic lubrication of the slides and ballscrews contributes to X and Z rapid traverse rates of 20 m/min and cutting feed rates up to 10 m/min. The simple conversational programming, of the Siemens 828D control, ensures that the sequence from drawing to finish machined part takes the minimum operator keystrokes, with canned cycles catering for common machining functions, such as, thread cutting, both internal and external. Programs can be checked using graphical simulation, with the finished component displayed as a 2D or 3D image.
