Tooling supplier shacked up at tool firm Cube Precision signs deal with Rampf

Engineering design specialist Futura Group’s new tooling materials and 3D printer supply business Abacus, which only started trading in 2015, has become a reseller of German tool board and modelling equipment supplier Rampf Tooling Solutions.

Abacus Technologies operates out of a unit at production tooling designer and developer Cube Precision Engineering, in Rowley Regis, West Midlands.

Cube Precision managing director Neil Clifton explains why: “Our background is in providing press tools for the major automotive brands but also high precision CNC machined components for aerospace. The technology offered in tooling board design, materials and manufacture is a perfect marriage for Cube Precision Engineering as we can win and refer work between the two companies, which has already produced results.”

Abacus is expecting to reach £1.4 million turnover at the end of its first year.

Managing director of the parent group Futura, Paul Cadman, reports: “I am confident that we have the right people on board, with the ability to really get inside a company and understand what they are currently doing and predict requirements in advance, streamlining the ordering and delivery process whilst also being able to offer solutions/better options to those who may not be as aware of what else is available.”

In other news, Cube has bought its former subcontractor GFP Tools, a Dudley-based precision engineering and tool manufacturer, to increase its manufacturing capacity.
