Subcontractor KMF puts in the effort for Cancer Research

Two football teams from subcontractor KMF (Precision Sheet Metal) played each other at Stoke City ground the Britannia Stadium in a charity match, while other staff took part in The Race for Life, with proceeds going to Cancer Research.

Played over the full 90 minutes, the only consideration to lack of match fitness for the football players was the availability of rolling substitutes, with the appearance of Radim Vaculin, KMF's European business development manager, giving the game an international flavour. In spite of this, the game turned out to be a one-sided affair, with the shopfloor team putting a healthy five goals into the net of the office staff team, giving away only a single consolation goal in return. To ensure fair play throughout, the match was played under the auspices of a referee and linesmen provided by the Premier League side, and there were no reports of any serious injuries. With each player contributing £20 for his appearance on the hallowed turf of the Britannia Stadium, the employees at KMF raised over £1,300 from the game. In addition, another group of staff continued the tradition of entering The Race for Life. They ran the 5 Km course at Staffordshire's Trentham Gardens in full fancy dress. Total sponsorship raised by KMF was in excess of £2,800.
