1 min read

Sandvik Coromant has published the 2010 CoroKey guide that helps customers quickly and easily find the most suitable tool combination, with appropriate cutting data, for their application.

The 216-page guide details a number of applications and cutting tool solutions in areas that include: turning, milling and drilling. It also contains practical tips and information on modular tooling and insert grades. The productivity 'message' is operator-oriented, highlighting how to calculate important factors, such as metal removal rates for common machining operations. Frequently used cutting data formulas are also presented, along with illustrations to show the meaning of terms and the nomenclature used. Published in an A5 size booklet, the inside cover of the CoroKey guide has been updated with information on the new MCT (metal cutting technology) training material, for those who want to improve their skills and knowledge to boost workshop productivity. This is followed by a newly designed index that is simplified and more structured. A grey coloured thumb index has been introduced to make it easier to locate different areas, such as milling, turning, drilling, threading or parting and grooving. Simplifying matters further, product areas are written with application-descriptive text, instead of product family names. The main sections each start with an explanation of how to use the booklet and how to choose an insert, grade and tool. Further sections provide guidance on: modular tooling; practical tips including safety, tool maintenance and wear and troubleshooting; and an explanation of Sandvik Coromant's basic grades.
