Micronz picks up GMTK's innovative, multi-process large scale horizontal and vertical CNC lathe agency

Micronz has been appointed the distributor for Spain's GMTK Multi-Process Machining SA for England and Wales (Scotmaz is the Scottish agent).
The key differentiator for these large capacity horizontal and turning machines is that they have the widest possible capability, allowing one-hit machining of complex parts using a wide range of machining processes.
As a new start-up, GMTK has, it is claimed, been able to come to machine tool design afresh, but with this based on its directors' more than 100 years of experience "at the very top of the global machine tool industry".
Unencumbered by the need to utilise existing components and previous company design methodologies, the company has started with a 'blank sheet of paper', which has resulted in what is described a groundbreaking design for its Accuracer HR and Accuracer VR, horizontal and vertical turning machine concepts.
The horizontal range has swing specifications of from 850 to 1,550 mm, centre distance of 2 to 10 m and workpiece weight capacities from 3,500 to10,000 kg. The vertical range boasts table diameters from 1.2 to 6.3 m, height capacity from 2 to 4 m, and can handle workpiece weights from 10,000 -120,000 kg.
The factor that sets GMTK apart is the versatility of its machines, which allows for the complete machining of complex pieces, achieved through the ability to install a wide range of accessories directly to the ram via a specially developed coupling device.
This method ensures that each GMTK machine is able to perform an wide range of machining processe, for example: turning; turning by milling; milling; B-axis continuous milling; 5-axis continuous milling; round milling; boring; U-axis boring; drilling; deep hole drilling; U-axis facing/contouring; deburring; grinding; roller burnishing; gear milling; and gear shaping.
Although a relatively young company, GMTK has enjoyed "outstanding early success within its targeted industrial sectors" - manufacturers of large, premium quality work pieces, from 1 to 6 m diameter. Targeted industrial sectors include: wind turbine/power generation; oil & gas; nuclear; aerospace; transmission components; marine and transport.
