Malthouse Engineering becomes only UK profiler to offer Toolox

Steel profiling specialist Malthouse Engineering and SSAB of Sweden will work together to introduce Toolox steel as a material for profiled products into the UK, making Mallthouse the only profiler of the material in the UK.

The material is being stocked in thicknesses ranging from 20 up to 130 mm, in grade TX-33. Toolox is a quenched and tempered pre-hardened engineering and tool steel, delivered with measured and guaranteed mechanical properties. It provides users with lower costs, reduced risks and saves valuable time in the production process, due to its excellent machinability. Having an equivalent hardness to P20, Toolox 33 is, however, said to be five times tougher. It can also be machined 30% quicker than 1.2312 and 40% quicker than 1.2311, yet remains extremely stable and requires no stress relieving even after heavy machining, it is further claimed. "The opportunity to be the only flame-cutting company working with Toolox in the UK is a fantastic one," says Dr Roy Taylor, managing director, Malthouse Engineering. "Given the quicker turnaround into production and the major manufacturing cost savings offered by profiled Toolox, we are confident there will be a lot of demand for the product. The fact we were chosen by SSAB to be their only UK steel profiling agent is evidence that the expertise and ability we have at Malthouse Engineering is second to none."
