With four generations of experience and pioneering spirit, the family-run company has the necessary expertise to do this. New holders and cutting inserts for axial inserts expand the ATS grooving system. This allows ring grooves to be produced on flat surfaces.
‘What seconds are to racing, minutes are to machining. Here, as there, the fastest wins. That's why we also work hard to identify time wasters in the machining process,’ assured Christian Kimmich, marketing manager at ARNO Werkzeuge (Karl-Heinz Arnold GmbH). The tool manufacturer will be presenting five approaches to saving time at AMB.
The family-owned company is taking a comprehensive, 360° approach to the topic. In addition to planning and tool selection, machine connection and set-up time, cooling and maintenance time, the five options for greater efficiency also include replacement and quality and, last but not least, the insert portfolio and tool life quantity. ‘In times of a shortage of skilled labour, every minute saved relieves the burden on personnel,’ emphasises Kimmich.
Tackling time wasters
Of course, factors such as the last hours, minutes or metres of tool life would dominate the thoughts of many users. ARNO Werkzeuge would like to show interested guests at the AMB that there is still great potential for time optimisation and greater efficiency to the right and left of this.
This starts with planning and tool selection, where the experts can offer their experience in an advisory capacity and provide reliable information on tools and cutting parameters. When it comes to machine connection and set-up time, special products shorten handling, tool changes, rear end machining and the connection of tool systems during production on sliding headstock lathes.
When ARNO Werkzeuge helps with insert selection, selection processes and replacement are significantly shortened. Time-consuming trial-and-error processes also disappear. It goes without saying that tool life is also extended. When the patented ACS - ARNO Cooling System is in use, users notice top performance in cooling and chip removal. This also increases efficiency and saves time.
And finally, Toolmanager and the CELLARNO online shop lead to record-breakingly fast ordering processes for the replacement of tools of the same high quality. With all these approaches as well as clever new and further developments, ARNO Werkzeuge aims to secure decisive competitive advantages for its customers in the future.
New TA14 inserts and holders for axial grooving
New and on show for the first time are TA14 holders and cutting inserts for axial grooving. ARNO Werkzeuge is thus expanding its successful ATS grooving system. The cutting inserts made from tried and tested carbide are available in grooving widths of 1.5-4mm. The matching holders are available in left and right-hand versions, each in straight and 90° angled versions.
The manufacturer offers them in three shank sizes 16x16, 20x20 and 25x25 suitable for star or disc turrets. This allows users to achieve grooving depths of up to 5mm for steel and 3mm for stainless steel. Cooling system connections are possible.
Cutting inserts are available for three diameter ranges, >16mm, >20mm and >30mm, so that users can select the right system for the respective process from numerous variants. Semi-finished products held in stock can be provided with the appropriate coating for the application. In addition, ARNO Werkzeuge also manufactures customised special plates according to customer requirements.
