Mazak Orbitec 20 reduces valve body production set-ups

Yamazaki Mazak says its US-manufactured Orbitec 20 specialist valve body production machine can undertake 75% of valve applications in a single set-up. It can complete a variety of valve features including the facing of flange surfaces, conical boring of taper holes, face milling, end milling, threading, internal grooving, concave machining and phonographic finishing. On stationary workpieces it can also produce eccentric features on large diameter shafts.

The Mazak Orbitec 2, which is equipped with a novel facing head, is capable of axis travels of 280 mm in the X-axis, 600 mm in the U- and V-axes and 1,230 mm in the Z-axis. The X-axis is capable of a maximum feedrate of 15 m/min while the C-axis spindle has a turning speed of 35 to 600 rpm.

The Orbitec 20's NC positioning table accommodates a 630 by 630 mm pallet and 1,500 kg maximum load. A two-pallet changer option is available, enabling Mazak's PalletTech solution to link the Orbitec 20 with Mazak machining centres to offer both a turning and milling solution.

The machine has a tool storage capacity of 60 tools.
