‘’The future of European industry lies in the industrialisation of innovative technologies such as AM,” says the newly-appointed chairman of the CECIMO AM committee, Stewart Lane, corporate manager at Renishaw. “With the creation of this committee, we are allowing all AM businesses to speak with a single, authoritative and expert voice in EU topics affecting their competitiveness, innovation and growth.”
The committee will rely on more than 350 AM organisations with expertise that spans across 15 national associations represented by CECIMO at European level.
‘’AM is quickly moving from prototyping to serial production in a variety of sectors,” states Filip Geerts, director general of CECIMO. “We are on the verge of seeing the technology’s industrial uptake in Europe. Now more than ever, it is crucial to guarantee a permanent, expert-driven dialogue with EU policymakers in order to create a thriving eco-system for AM. Our association has been at the forefront of this effort for a very long time. With this committee, we are renewing our dedication to this objective.”
The AM committee will focus on broad subjects vital for the industrialisation of AM in Europe, such as the right EU regulatory framework, workforce development, trade and AM-related statistics. The committee will also build upon the work of the existing AM working group, where CECIMO members single out specific policy and business subjects upon which to exchange views and suggest common steps.
