Walter Cut MX offers four cutting edges and three geometries

The Walter Cut MX from Walter GB is a grooving and parting-off tool that combines four cutting edges and three geometries in a single system. Cutting depths of up to 6 mm and cutting widths of 0.8 to 3.25 mm are available as standard, although non-standard sizes and versions can be supplied via the Walter Xpress bespoke tooling service.

According to Walter, the efficiency of the system is such that only one type of cutting insert is required for both the left- and right-hand toolholder. And if one cutting edge breaks, work can continue with the three remaining edges.

Each insert is available in a trio of chipformer types – GD8, CF5 or RF – with the CF5 sintered chip geometry enabling high chip control at light feeds.

A self-aligning tangential clamping system and dowel pin location in the insert seat provide stability and prevent the inserts from being incorrectly fitted.
