Tungaloy enhances AH8000 turning grades for HRSAs

Tungaloy is expanding its AH8000 series of insert grades for turning heat-resistant superalloys (HRSAs). Newly developed positive geometries (including CPMT and VBMT) with a corner radius of 0.2 mm have been added to Tungaloy’s line-up, typically intended for finishing applications. In addition, the negative insert line now offers the latest -28 style chip breaker, along with existing -HRF and -HRM styles. The -28 chip breaker features a large inclination angle on the cutting edge to promote smooth chip flow and free cutting action.

All of the 62 newly developed items in this expansion are offered in two grades: AH8015, the first-choice grade with well-balanced wear and fracture resistance; and AH8005, with superior wear resistance.

The AH8000 series features high resistance to both wear and fracture thanks to what is said to be the world’s first high Al-content, nano-multi-layered AlTiN coating technology. Manufacturers set to benefit will include those serving the aerospace and heavy engineering industries.
