Trumpf foil slitter glides like a ballpoint to preserve metal surface

  • Trumpf punch press foil slitter
The Trumpf foil slitter could prove a real boon to manufacturers using materials such as brushed or polished stainless steel where, to ensure metal surfaces are scratch free, they currently score foils by hand – a tedious and time-consuming task.

The Trumpf foil slitting tool, said to be inspired by the ballpoint pen, is light in weight and movable in all directions. It glides over the surface of the sheet metal and scores all kinds of foils without damaging the metal itself. Even intricate shapes can be easily separated from protective foil after the slitting process.

Key to its superior performance is a ceramic stylus that makes it extremely tough and durable. Depending on the type of foil, this new ballpoint offers a service life five to eight times longer than its brass predecessor, says Trumpf. It is suitable for use on any Trumpf TruPunch machine.
