Tool grinding software is easy to use

  • Tool grinding software is easy to use
Version 8.0 Quick Check Modular software for the Walter Helicheck range of tool measuring machines offers users an unrivalled level of flexibility, ease of operation and rapid programming, it is claimed.

The software enables the automatic determination of basic parameters without operators needing to key in any specific data in advance. After the tool is clamped, the user simply selects the appropriate basic form and uses the system's AutoPilot command to start the automatic measuring process. The procedure applies to both complex and standard tool forms.

In addition, programs can also be created via in-built wizards and editors, for example, without the need for AutoPilot. Minimal programming time and effort is required for the measurement for families of standard tools – and now for complex tooling - because Quick Check Modular (QCM 8.0) offers ready-made variable parameter programs for these.

Offline programming offers another route to time savings – users can prepare programs on a separate workstation while the software is also being used to measure and while operators are preparing subsequent tools for inspection – thus minimising tool measuring downtime.

In addition, when geometric data for a tool is available electronically, the data can be automatically read into QCM 8.0 (with the appropriate interface) to automatically generate programs. Programs can be saved on a local database or recalled from other Helichecks via a network database (at either local or global locations) since programs are compatible across the Helicheck range.

Another feature of the software is its reporting functionality - for internal and external use - which, with informative graphics, really sets QCM 8.0 apart. The captured measuring values can be archived for the long-term.
