TaeguTec improves aluminium cutter range

  • TaeguTec improves aluminium cutter range
The 2 and 3-flute TaeguTec AluPlusMill series for machining aluminium and aluminium alloys has a thicker core than its predecessor to improve speeds, feeds, rigidity and surface finishes.

This development maximises chip evacuation even when undertaking high speed and high feed cutting. The strengthened core diameter improves rigidity of the cutting edge while the enhanced vibration dampening properties, compared to the existing AluMill end mill, deliver higher productivity levels and improved tool life.

The core diameter works in harmony with an improved gash geometry that minimises cutting edge stress and drastically reduces the potential for the cutting edge to crack and chip. This ensures consistent tool life and performance. Added to the benefits of the improved geometry of the AluPlusMill is the new very finely ground cutter surface. Achieved credit to a newly developed UF10 micro grain carbide structure, this immaculate surface enhances surface finishes, improves wear resistance and swarf evacuation.

The 2-flute AluPlusMill is available from 1 to 4 mm diameter in 0.5 mm increments and from 4 to 20 mm in 1 mm increments. The series has an overall length ranging from 47 to 110 mm with a cut length from 3 to 55 mm. The 3 flute series is available from 3 to 25 mm diameter in 1mm increments with a length of cut from 6 to 75 mm and an overall length of 47 to 140mm. Despite the long length of the cutters, rigidity is guaranteed credit to the innovative core and geometry design. This allows customers to comfortably machine at speeds and feeds up to 24,000 rpm and 5 m/min.
