Spherosyn 2G digital linear encoder is faster to install

The Newall Spherosyn 2G linear encoder is designed for the conventional machine tool market, is now quicker to install, requires no maintenance and comes with a five year warranty on the encoder and a lifetime warranty on the scales.

The Spherosyn 2G encoder has completely new electronics and offers a significantly reduced total cost of ownership compared to its predecessor. The new internals enable more accurate alignment, which makes installation easier and 30 – 50 per cent quicker than traditional technologies such as glass and magnetic tape.

With all the electronics encased in a new tough metal reader head, the Spherosyn 2G encoder and stainless steel scales require no maintenance whatsoever. The bushing technology and no mechanical wear characteristics mean it is extremely durable and reliable, giving minimal machine downtime.

Unlike glass scales which require regular cleaning and are susceptible to scratches or breaks, Newall’s robust stainless steel scales do not suffer from contamination problems and therefore don’t have to been cleaned or replaced. This alone can save thousands of pounds a year in machine shop overheads.
