Seco expands Steadyline vibration-damping tools

Seco Tools has expanded its range of Steadyline vibration-damping (long reach) turning and boring tools with the introduction of 25 mm diameter Steadyline bars, GL25 turning heads and 100 mm diameter Steadyline bars, as well as rough and fine boring heads for Steadyline bars.

Steadyline turning bars incorporate a vibration-damping system that allows component manufacturers to turn and bore depths up to 10xD when machining small and large holes. The system features a damping mass located inside the tool-holder bars which, when used in conjunction with short, compact cutting-tool heads, optimise vibration absorption so that tool lengths up to 10 times the bar diameter can be deployed while negating tool chatter and preventing work interruptions.

With Steadyline, manufacturers can change turning and boring tool heads rapidly and easily using Seco’s GL connector system. The GL system ensures that heads are mounted to Steadyline bars quickly and securely, and deliver centring accuracy and repeatability of 5 micron, plus 180° head orientation capability, if required.

The latest 25 mm diameter bars with GL25 workpiece-side connection for turning and boring depths of 6xD, 8xD and 10xD, include a selection of carbide-reinforced bars to tackle the deepest tool overhang challenges, as well as Seco-Capto, HSK-T/A and cylindrical shank machine-side interfaces.

Seco’s 16 newly introduced GL25 turning heads are aimed at general turning, recessing and back-boring applications.

The latest 100 mm diameter bars accommodate existing GL50 turning heads and incorporate Seco’s Jetstream high-pressure coolant technology through BA-to-GL50 adapters.

Finally, boring heads with BA060 and BA080 machine-side interfaces allow for rough and fine boring at diameters from 66 to 115 mm.
