Schaublin Machines' £130, 000 51-5AX 5-axis machining centre is claimed ideal for the automotive, optical, aerospace, medical and micro machining sectors.

The 51-5AX has a travel range of 300 by 400 by 430 mm in X, Y and Z-axis with an A-axis tilt of 30 to 120° and a 360° C-Axis rotation. It has a maximum swing diameter of 250 mm and a 210 mm table diameter.

The motor spindle is a high frequency variable motor that utilises high accuracy spindle bearings and offers speeds of 12000, 15000 or 20000 rpm. And the 23 kW spindle produces 6.6 Nm of torque.

The machine has a positional accuracy of 0.007 mm, with A and C axis accurate to 30 and 15 seconds of arc, respectively. Repeatability in A and C-axis is 0.004 mm with 5 seconds of arc accuracy.

The machine comes with Heidenhain iTNC530 control system, air hose/gun, MPG hand wheel, retention knobs, side access doors with windows, coolant chip flush and spindle chiller as standard.

Optional extras to suit the individual needs include two types of chip conveyor, through coolant spindle (20 Bar), linear glass scales on X, Y and Z axes and a Renishaw part and tool measuring system.
