Precision fixturing for micro-machining

The µ-PrisFix, an Ultra-precision fixturing system that has an accuracy range of less than or equal to 1 micron, has been developed for micro-machining where the biggest source of a fixturing systems errors are not the system’s repeatabilty, but its changing accuracy.

Hirschmann believes its µ-PrisFix system is the world’s first fixturing system to achieve a changing accuracy of less than or equal to 0.001 mm (1 micron) as well as a repeatable accuracy of less than or equal to 0.0005 mm (0.5 micron). This means that workpieces, fixtures, measuring equipment, etc, can be positioned and clamped over several machining processes with an accuracy and total changing error of less than or equal to 0.001 mm (1 micron). If the workpiece is clamped on and off the same clamping chuck a repeatable accuracy of less than or equal to 0.0005 mm (0.5 micron) is achieved.
