Matsuura MX-520 targets new-to-5-axis companies

  • Matsuura Machinery plc entry level 5-axis machining centre
Matsuura Machinery plc's new MX-520 is targeted at companies making the switch from 3 to 5-axis operations, with its cost to performance ratio belying its market-entry investment.

The MX-520 is rigid and compact, with a 300 mm diameter single table/trunnion configuration (500 mm optional).

Maximum component weight is 150 kg, with an acceptable billet size of 520 mm diameter by 350 mm high.

Launched at a Matsuura plc Open House event, 16-17 November, 2010, standard spindle speed is 12,000rpm and axis travels are 630, 560 and 510 mm in X, Y and Z, respectively. A-axis travel is -125° +10°.

This new series of Matsuura 5-axis machines is hand-built to the same exacting quality standards as the established MAM72 series, at Matsuura's main plant in Fukui, Japan.

Prior to launch, Matsuura Machinery plc took its first order for an MX-520, from KL Giddings, an established long-term user of Matsuura machine tools.
