Magnetic filter eliminates even sub-micron particles

The Micromag filtration system promises huge advantages in fluid filtration, it is claimed, particularly for grinding machines. Some 90 years of magnetic expertise back the development of this novel product which is intended to remove magnetic particles from coolant. With a magnetic core incorporating Neodymium Iron Boron (rare earth), an extremely high magnetic field is generated which is able to attract even sub-micron particles. Micromag is available in three housing sizes - 5, 10 and 20 inches, with the 10 inch body able to contain 2 kgs of material while the lagest size unit's capacity is 4.5 kg. A clear filter housing offers a visual method of monitoring the condition of the units. Re-circulating magnetic particles in any machine tool, but especially a grinding machine, have many negative effects. Pump, slideway and hydraulic seal wears wear prematurely, while oil and coolant life is massively reduceds due to bacterial growth. This can actually stop coolant from performing its intended functions of cooling and lubricating at the cutting face. In addition, surface finish and component accuracy can be negatively effected, while the need to redress the wheel more often is another impact. Apart from its core benefit, Micromag also offers the following advantages: [] No loss of fluid due to sodden filters [] No pressure drop even when fully loaded [] No consumables required [] No maintenance [] Reduced environmental impact - metallic waste can be collected by material supplier [] Can remove abrasives and non-metallic particles due to heterocoagulation [] Reduced machine downtime [] Visual inspection of filtered fluid
