Low-cost CNC turret mills

A three model range of turret mills offers a cost-effective first step into CNC prismatic machining. Prices begin at £10,000 (+VAT) for the XYZ ProtoTRAK EMX eMill, a flexible and easy to use turret mill that can be operated in either manual/DRO or CNC mode.

The 3 hp/4,200 rpm EMX eMill has X and Y axis travels of 762 and 356 mm respectively and a 1,270 by 254 mm table. The intermediate model is the 3 hp/4,200 rpm EMX 2000, which also has X and Y axis travels of 762 and 356 mm and a 1,270 by 254 mm table. Top of the range is the 5 hp/3,600 rpm EMX 3000 which has X and Y travels of 813 and 432 mm and a 1,371 by 305 mm table. All three models feature a variable speed head, Meehanite cast iron ribbed construction, and are built and guarded to comply fully with CE regulations.

All three turret mills are equipped as standard with the new EMX control. First-time CNC users will find programming the two-axis control involves simple selections and answering prompts in plain English. Unlike conventional controls, the user need only define the part geometry because the control defines the toolpath. And reassurance is always to hand as pressing the LOOK key brings up a colour graphic of what has been programmed so far.
