Mori Seiki has added a 20-station turret option to the NL1500 and NL2000 Series of high-rigidity, high-precision CNC lathes, in place of the standard 12-station unit.

The NL Series has seen sales of around 7,000 units sold since its release in 2004. The new development is intended to allow customer to achieve quick set-ups, longer unattended running and the ability to machine more complex work.

Since the 20-Station turret specifications can hold up to 20 tools, it is suitable for a wider range of work pieces, including those which require many processes and for which automation was difficult with the conventional 12 tools.

And by applying the BMTTM (Built-in Motor Turret) as used on the NT and NZ models, the company has achieved machining capability and versatility matching that achieved with machining centres.
