Large format machining centres

Large format Poseidon machining centres are suitable for high speed, precision machining of patterns and prototypes, trimming of large aluminium or composite components in the aerospace, automotive and marine industries, and machining of tooling board and sand moulds in foundries.

The multi-axis machining centre range is based on a build platform that provides machines as large as 8 x 40 m, placing the Poseidon range at the top end of the equipment offered by the CMS Group. Even the smallest model, at a 'mere' 2.6 x 3 m, is a substantial piece of production machinery. There is a choice of Z-axis travels of 1.2 m, 2 m, 2.5 m, 3 m, 3.5 m or 4 m, plus a variety of spindle sizes and rotary axis assemblies.

Modular construction means that customers can ask CMS to match their precise needs, instead of having to compromise by selecting the nearest fit from a list of standard machines.

All Poseidon machining centres employ a mobile bridge geometry with the gantry carrying one or two spindle drives, each with independently controlled cross traverse and vertical movement so that they can work independently or as a pair.
