Opticline C302 non-contact shaft measuring system for small components

  • Hommel-Etamic shaft measurement Metrology Direct
Available from Metrology Direct, the Opticline C302 optical non-contact shaft measuring system joins a range manufactured by Hommel-Etamic. Its speed, accuracy and flexibility are aimed at improving productivity by allowing components to be passed off quickly, thereby minimising machine tool downtime.

The Hommel-Etamic Opticline C302 bench-top system is designed for fast, extremely high accuracy non-contact measurement in the small machined components production environment, including diesel injectors. Its high resolution sensor allows components' contours to be precisely recorded and it can measure normal dimensions as well as a range of geometric tolerances including roundness, run-out and concentricity. The measuring range is 150 mm (length) by 20 mm (diameter) with a resolution of 0.05 micrometre. Measurement of small features such as blend radii and section changes are facilitated by the system's high resolution.

One of the key features of the Opticline C302 is the unit's continual automatic verification of its calibration status each time it takes a measurement. This ensures excellent reproducibility and repeatability. Other features are simple user-friendly operation, automatic temperature compensation and the ability to create measuring programs in minutes.

There are 14 systems in the complete Opticline range, providing non-contact measurement of shaft sizes from 0.2–230 mm diameter and 250–1,000 mm lengths, with workpiece weight capacities of up to 75 kg.
