Haas develops automatic doors for mills and lathes

To help machine shops boost their productivity and reduce operator fatigue, Haas has developed automatic doors for its range of milling machines and lathes.

The Haas Auto Door opens the machine doors automatically via an M-code, or they can be opened manually via a button on the control pendant. This reduces operator fatigue during repetitive machining operations, and allows for unattended running when used with a robotic loader. The doors close automatically at ‘Cycle Start’, and can be controlled to open at the end of a cycle, or at an optional stop.

Auto Door can also be used on the Haas CL-1 chucking lathe. Here, the CL-1’s sliding sub-door opens automatically via the part program or manually, providing access to the chuck without opening the machine’s primary door. This concept simplifies and speeds up manual part loading and unloading.
