Fine abrasive waterjet machines

  • Fine abrasive waterjet machines
Water Jet Sweden AB and fellow Swedish company Finecut AB have developed a range of 'fine abrasive waterjet' (FAW) models.

The machines offer a reduction in kerf width from the industry normal minimum of 0.5 mm to 0.3 mm on the currently released models, and a potential 0.2 mm pending successful, on-going trials.

Fine Abrasive Waterjet (FAWs) have cutting jet diameters of between 50 and 300 microns, with abrasive carried in water or air and entrained into a high velocity water jet. Conventional Abrasive Water jets have cutting jet diameters larger than 300 microns, abrasive carried in air and entrained into a high velocity water jet.

They have feed rates of 20m/min, double that in fast feed mode, with a positioning accuracy of ± 0,01 mm/300 mm (20 °C).
