Dormer bands ranges into Elect and Spectrum productivity categories

  • Dormer drilling, milling and threading cutting tools
Dormer is now grouping its high performance drilling, milling and threading ranges into two productivity classes to enable quick and easy customer identification of the optimum tool. The company explains that 'Elect' indicates top performance in particular materials and specific applications, with 'Spectrum' signifying versatility over a multitude of materials and defined operations.

Among the additions to Dormer's solid carbide 'one-hit' deep hole drilling programme branded 'Elect' are the R572 (15xD), R573 (20xD) and R575 (30xD). These will join the existing R570 (8xD) and R571 (12xD) drills.

All drills feature advanced chip management flute geometry and 'Super-Flow' surface treatment, says Dormer, which ensure consistent forces throughout the drilling cycle with little or no increase in torque generated.

Dormer is also expanding its Spectrum multi-material taps. Both thread cutting and thread forming taps are now available in a wide variety of thread-forms, substrates and coatings.
