Compact drill and tap centre
The Bridgeport GX 480 DT machines are compact and have a rigid C-frame, fixed column design. The machines’ spindle carrier, column and base are constructed from high-quality cast iron.
This construction – plus high-performance linear guideways improve machining performance, protect tool life and ensure consistent high positioning accuracy (+/- 0.005mm) and repeatability (0.002 mm).
GX 480 DT machines are equipped with a 5.5 kW 15,000 rpm direct drive ISO 30 spindle that produces 17.5 Nm torque and a maximum tapping speed of 6,000 rpm.
This power, combined with 48m/min rapids on all axes, 1 G acceleration/deceleration and 14-position (turret-type) or 20-position (swing-arm) ATC with 1.5/0.8 second tool change time – provides customers with a quick and responsive machine that both reduces non-cutting times and improves duty cycle times.
The machine’s performance characteristics are complemented by its versatility.
A good working envelope, despite its compact size, delivers manufacturing flexibility – while its high-efficiency coolant (100 litre tank capacity) and chip-removal system ensure that optimum cutting conditions are maintained in the work area – vital for long and uninterrupted machining operations.
The machine is equipped with a Fanuc 0iMC control with 256KB memory and is supplied with custom-made/ready to use mill and tap macros that save time, simplify programming and eliminate input error.
