Clamping system locks inserts from either side of the blade

The latest parting and grooving innovation from Ceratizit provides users with a far simpler operating procedure that ensures precise insert location and expedites the setting process.

MSS-SX features an innovative clamping system that allows inserts to be locked into position, using the supplied tool, from either side of the blade, making it suitable for a variety of machine tool configurations. Located in the two location points, the tool is used, initially, to open the insert seat prior to the insert being positioned. The reverse movement of the tool then causes the seat to clamp the insert precisely and securely.

The result, says Ceratizit, is a guarantee of perfect insert seating every time, along with consistent positioning of the insert to eliminate time-consuming adjustments after an insert is changed. Furthermore, the retaining system ensures good insert security under the most arduous of cutting conditions.
