CBN grinding wheels’ bonding system delivers exceptional form holding and stabilty
The NaxoForce suites of diamond and CBN grinding wheels have been created to meet the demands for efficiently manufacturing solid carbide and high speed steel cutting tools, including those which have a complicated geometry, narrow tolerances and excellent surface finish.
The wheels are manufactured using a bonding system that delivers exceptional form holding and stability, says Winterthur Group UK, optimising feed and speed rates to give a higher quality tool, minimising grinding error and improving machine up-time.
The NaxoForce suite of wheels includes wheels designed for specific functions, for instance flute grinding, one of the most demanding and time-consuming operations because the large contact area makes it difficult for the coolant to reach the grinding zone. Unlike other wheels, the infeed or feedrate does not need to be reduced using a NaxoFlute wheel, even though stock removal can be as much as 10 mm3/sec.
In solid tungsten carbide, NaxoFlute achieves material removal rates, also called Qw prime of 10 or higher. To calculate Qw, multiply depth of cut by the feedrate and divide by 60. Other wheels within the suite include the NaxoEdge for gashing, NaxoClear for relief or point grinding and NaxoPolish.
