Almac machining centre offers 5-axis mill-turn capability
The new FC 1105 Almac 5-axis mill-turn machining centre from Tornos has 3, 4 or 5 axes and is a multi-capacity vertical milling and turning centre, equipped with a rotating dividing head (torque motor) and a slideway to take up to six cutting tools.
This innovative machine can undertake productive and high precision milling, turning and surface machining operations on simple or complex parts in a single clamping. This makes the new offering ideal for hi-tech manufacturing sectors, such as watchmaking, jewellery, medical equipment, connector technology, electronics and micro engineering, complementing the Tornos range of turning centres.
Having spindle power of 2 kW offering 30,000 rpm, the FC 1105 offers complete made-to-measure functionality and adaptability, with an independent electrical cabinet, numerical control on an articulated arm mounted to the left or right of the machine, lateral accessibility, a two-handed moveable starting-switch panel, interior lighting and all regulatory safety devices.
The basic configuration of the FC 1105 comprises a cross traverse, horizontally mounted table forming the X and Y axes. The X slide is designed to hold a worktable, onto which the various clamping devices are fixed. The Z-axis, set in the vertical position is independent of the X and Y-axes and houses the spindle unit. The slides are mounted on high-precision pre-stressed rails with the axes being driven by ball screw assemblies and a numerical closed-loop control.
An optional loading/unloading module can be integrated into the FC 1105, providing it with complete autonomy and independence.
