Abrasive belts get performance boost

  • Abrasive belts get performance boost
Longer lasting metalworking belts with higher initial cut and improved shelling resistance are available from 3M.

The new 3M metalworking belts contain a further improved and even more durable version of the company's Cubitron abrasive grain, a technology designed to continuously expose fresh cutting faces during use, ensuring a consistently sharp cut throughout the belt's life.

Lasting on average 20 per cent longer than previous versions, this latest innovation from 3M follows other recent upgrades that significantly improved Cubitron belt life in heat-sensitive applications.

Available for both manual and automated grinding systems, the belts can between them cope with a huge variety of materials including cobalt and nickel alloys, stainless steel, carbon steel, titanium, aluminium, zinc and carbon steel.

The new belts have been designed for use in both gate and stock removal operations, with applications as diverse as the turbine blade, medical implant and engineered castings sectors.

3M metalworking belts with Cubitron grain are available from regular 3M suppliers.
