World’s largest waterjet profiler ever built makes its debut

  • World’s largest waterjet profiler ever built makes its debut
Star attraction at the Open House 2011 of Water Jet Sweden AB, which attracted attendance from countries around the world, was the presentation and demonstration under power of probably the largest waterjet profiler ever built prior to its installation at Kockums AB, part of Germany's ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems in Sweden.

Its application will be for cutting composite materials such as carbon fibre and glass fibre used in the building of corvettes and other naval coastal defence and patrol vessels, which incorporate the most advanced stealth technology.

Designated WJS NC 60150D (pictured), this huge profiler features a cutting table measuring 6.5 metres width x 15.5 metres length and twin cutting heads with repetition accuracy +/- 0.05 mm per metre and positional accuracy +/- 0.08 mm/metre.

The CNC is Fanuc's Series 31i model A5; incorporated also is WJS's own recently-developed BEVELJET 5-axis cutting head for both straight and bevel cutting; and the first Desk Jet Printer to be installed. The super high pressure pump is the KMT model SL-V PLUS, delivering 4,200 bar 37Kw/50 HP.
