Wagon buys Oxford Automotive

Engineered structures supplier Wagon Automotive has acquired Oxford Automotive ApS, a supplier of modular automotive body structures and mechanisms.

Wagon has strong capabilities in roll-forming and stretch bending, medium sized stampings, structural assemblies and glazing and shading systems. It employs approximately 4,400 staff at 18 operational facilities in Europe - in the UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, the Czech Republic and Spain. It is responsible for the aluminium door frames for the Audi A4 and Jaguar XJ series; steel door frames and bumpers for the Ford Fiesta; and aluminium seat rails, doors and window blinds for the Renault Espace, for example. Oxford has strong capabilities in large stampings, welding, coating, fine blanking and mechanisms. A Danish private limited company, it nine operating facilities located in France, Germany and Turkey, employing approximately 3,300 people. “A combination of Wagon and Oxford addresses all these needs and creates one of the leading Tier 1 suppliers to European-based automotive OEMs,” said Pierre Vareille, Group Chief Executive of Wagon. “The result willbe a strong platform from which to take advantage of the increasing trend by OEMs towards outsourcing engineered structures.”
