Vargus Tooling website offers threading tips

  • Vargus Tooling website offers threading tips
Vargus Tooling’s website claims to offer a wealth of indispensable machining tips for cost-effective thread generation and improved operator efficiency.

For example, a data sheet explains that, if the incorrect feed rate is used while threading in a circular motion, a likely problem when machining at too slow a rate would be increased cycle times - perhaps even five times longer than necessary – and if working too fast, then high insert load could lead to a significant reduction in tool life.

In addition, the website also details how some machine CNC systems refer to the feed rate at the workpiece centre (F2) and some to feed at the cutting edge (F1), and operators are often unaware of the difference.

With the Vargus Vardex TM Gen software solution for thread milling (TT Gen software is used for thread turning cutting data), machining time is calculated using F2 so, if actual machining time is substantially different, then the machine control is interpreting via F1.

Vardex TM Gen calculates both F1 and F2 automatically, so saving operators a considerable amount of time and headaches.
