  • US firm acquires Geo Kingsbury's automotive test rig business
Burke E. Porter Machinery of Grand Rapids, Michigan, has acquired the automotive test rig business of Geo Kingsbury Machine Tools, Gosport.

Geo Kingsbury Machine Tools has been providing vehicle component test rigs to the global automotive sector for more than five decades. Its solutions simulate in-vehicle conditions and provide advanced analysis tools that enable customers to test and develop axles, differentials, transaxles, power transfer units (PTU) and steering gears.

Burke Porter has moved into supplying test-rigs and the acquisition will enable the expansion of its product range to include vehicle power train component test solutions. It is the manufacturer of the first fully electric DVT roll/brake machine and supplies end-of-line equipment, dynamometers, tyre and wheel assembly systems to all of the major OEMs and automotive suppliers throughout the world.

The company specialises in the design and development of equipment for electrical and mechanical analysis of vehicle performance and has developed an infrastructure and supply chain that enables it to provide customers with sales, service, and manufacturing worldwide.

The combination of Burke Porter's global footprint and the Geo Kingsbury designs make this a strategic acquisition. Customers will be able to acquire the latest technology in the regions that their facilities operate and will have local service providers. Further benefit will be gained from the competitive advantage of leveraging the Burke Porter global supply chain and engineering expertise to acheve the most cost effective solution possible.
