Trumpf UK appoints new technical director

  • Trumpf UK appoints new technical director
Scott Simpson has been appointed technical director at Trumpf UK, replacing Roger Butcher who recently retired from the position.

Mr Simpson started his career with Trumpf as a service engineer and, within months, became area sales manager for Scotland. In 2000 he was promoted to General Sales Manager and six years later was managing director of Trumpf India where, in just two years, he moved the business to a purpose-built facility, with a turnover of 12 million euros and a workforce of 50 people.

As Technical Director in the UK, Mr Simpson's role is to deliver continuous evaluation, improvement and expansion of the services Trumpf offers. The scope extends from machine and software contracts through to tooling, spares and consumables.

"I'm seeking to build a one-stop-shop for every support mechanism our customers need to improve their productivity. Providing a fast response service is vital in today's supply chain," says Mr Simpson. "It's our job to minimise downtime to ensure the Trumpf customer continues to provide the best possible service to his customer."
